Joe Castorino has a Bachelor of Arts degree and also a Master of Arts degree in English literature (with an emphasis in fiction) from Loyola Marymount University. For over ten years he taught writing (and also some literature), mostly on the community-college level but also to a limited extent on the university and high-school levels. In addition, he worked as an academic training leader for Edward Jones Investments for almost 15 years and held the designation of Accredited Asset Management Specialist.

In terms of his spiritual life, since 2007 he has been a member of the Association of Mary, Queen of All Hearts (this is a part of the Company of Mary that was founded by St. Louis de Montfort). Then, from 2011-2013 he was a pre-diaconate candidate and graduated from the Kino Catechetical Institute with a specialization in Respect Life ministry.

In his apostolate, since 2015, he has composed “prayer poems” and “poetic prayers” and has been published in the Catholic literary journal PILGRIM. He has also given parish missions which focus on holy devotions. His Lenten/Easter mission centers on the Divine Mercy Novena and is entitled “A Mission of Divine Mercy,” while his Advent/Christmas mission is called “A Mission to Jesus through Mary.” Plus, he has periodically given a talk on the subject of morally-responsible investing. Lastly, he is very active as a lector in his parish.
