THE POWER OF LOVE / by Joe Castorino

The Feast of Corpus Cristi (2026)

Our Lady of Love said

That I should fix my eyes

Upon your Passion, dear Jesus,

And so I come here before you,

On this dark day at Golgotha.

With blind faith,

I stand here at the foot

Of your holy cross,

Thirsting for your holy love,

And what do I see now

Hanging humbly upon the cross?

I see the one

Who came into this world

As a sweet little babe,

The Babe of Bethlehem,

Who left the City of Love,

To come down here to the

Land of Broken Hearts,

To teach us how to love.

And what did you do,

For the first thirty years

Of your hidden life?

What did you do,

As a child

In a foreign land,

As a stranger in Egypt?

What did you do,

As a young boy

In your homeland,

As a poor child in Nazareth?

What did you do,

As a young man,

At your father’s side,

As a carpenter’s apprentice?

As a youth,

You lived a simple life of love,

Through your little thoughts,

Through your little words,

Through your little actions,

But then The Babe of Love

Gradually matured into

The Boy of Love,

And eventually into

The Man of Love.

And then,

For the last three years,

You finally revealed yourself as

The Messiah of Love,

And taught us how to

Think in love,

Speak in love,

Act in love.

So now, as I look up,

And see you on the cross,

I see Love, nothing but Love,

Pure Love,

Wholehearted Love,

And your sacred heart

Was pierced so that you,

The Divine Mercy,

Could fill my soul,

Refreshing it, renewing it,

And making it a new creation,

Through the power of Love!
